Canadian Colours Equestrian Limited : Breeding and competing modern sport horses and specialist equestrian publishing

Founded by Canadian Kelly McCarthy-Maine, Canadian Colours Equestrian Limited specialises in breeding, producing and competing modern sport horses.

Our breeding program works closely with the reproductive veterinary team at Pinkham Equine and Hill Cottage Farm and Stud in Dorset. Our broodmares and young stock are out year round on chalk hills at Boveridge Farm, managed by the indomitable Tina Yarrow. Our foundation mares are all Irish Sport Horses, combining jumping lines with classically tough Irish Thoroughbred genes. Two of the mares are full sisters to 5* event horses and dam sires include Harlequin du Carel, Puissance, Clover Echo and Ars Vivendi.

Our mares consistently produce correct foals with good feet and natural athletic ability. We have used stallions such as Herald III, Je T’aime Flamenco, Ramiro B, Flipper d’elle, Chef of Flanders Fields and Amiro Z. The oldest horses that we have retained begin their young horse careers in 2023 with the help of UK-based French rider Oceane Amans.

The training of the competition horses takes place out of the Pro Barn at Little Park, near Royal Wootton Bassett. We are very grateful to the family that owns the farm for sharing their incredible facilities with us. And we are lucky to have access to some of the best riders and trainers in the world, working regularly with Lucinda Fredericks, Emily Young Jamieson, Angela Tucker, Mike Winter and Richard Waygood.

With Kelly, the experienced horses compete at 3* level and aim for championships like the Pan American Games, while the young horses begin with national Next Gen, Burghley Young Event Horse and British Eventing age classes, with the potential to represent Canada at Mondial du Lion, World Breeding Championships for six and seven-year-old horses.
